What genre is ‘For the Record’?

I’ve been reliably informed that For the Record is a ‘Noir’ novel. It’s racier than ‘Cosy Crime’, but not quite in the ‘Thriller’ category. It could also be categorised as a ‘Mystery’.

What’s ‘For the Record’ all about?
